Pride:
- Giving up pride means giving all credit and glory to Guru and Krishna.
- When You are Proud you are transforming spiritual energy into material energy and when you are humble you are transforming material into spiritual.
- If you have a boil on your body and if somebody squeezes it, it really hurts. If you don’t have a boil on your body, you can squeeze that same part, and it doesn’t hurt. But if you do have one if somebody even looks on it, it hurts. So, where there is pride, it is like that boil filled with that pus.
- As soon as we think anything is ours, pride enters our heart.
- Danger is when we think all symptoms of false pride, to be a symptom of our advancement.
- When pride comes, we are already fallen, what comes after that is a detail.
- When someone is proud, that person may impress people’s minds. But usually that pride does not let him go too deeply into ther affection of people’s hearts. Humility actually wins people’s hearts.
- There are two types of pride, the first is self-pride and the second is being proud of the person is bestowing mercy upon us. The first pride leads to fear and the second pride leads to fearlessness.
- To be proud of our righteousness is also a sin.
- To be proud means to be unrealistic, dishonest and ungrateful.
- When you are proud of your humility, nobody may spot it except the Lord in the heart. He not only spots it. He will even magnify it.
- As long as you are proud of how great and pious you are, you can never really turn to God.
- If we take joy in our own greatness, it will be washed away by the waves of time. If we take pleasure in Krishna’s greatness, we dive into an ocean of spiritual joy.
- Great people always feel that they need help though they don’t. People, who badly need help, think they are great.
Honor / Position:
- People will lie, die and cry for position.
- When you advance in Krishna consciousness it is more difficult to tolerate being honored than to tolerate being dishonored.
- The great thing is not having power; the great thing is how you use your power. Are you using the power in such a way that you gain genuine inner fulfillment, enlightenment and are improving physical, emotional, ethical and spiritual quality of others?
- When power comes, along with that comes responsibility to protect the innocent.
- The bigger you get, the more the people will hate you, but if you are actually living in a spirit of simplicity, of servitude and of compassion people will actually and truly respect and love you.
- When a person praises you, there is sense of recognition. When a person criticizes you, there is also a sense of recognition. But when a person doesn’t even acknowledge your existence, that hurts. That’s what Krishna did with Brahmaji.
- For one who is honored, dishonor is worse than death. But for one who sees a divine reason behind it, dishonor is more blissful than honor, because life is not about being honored and dishonored; life is about how we respond to each to those situations and the observation of the Lord within the heart.
- The biggest cause of anxiety is the feeling that I am the controller. If we sincerely take shelter of Krishna, there will be not anxiety because we will realize that Krishna is the controller.
- Wanting to get credit is a burning burden of the heart. We get a little mental satisfaction, but expectation of credit is actually painful.
